Suspected impersonator identified as Samuel Eze has been arrested by operatives of the Enugu State police command.
A statement by the command’s spokesman, Superintendent Ebere Amaraizu said the suspect was arrested along Mgbemena axis of the state while dressed in an attire resembling that of police officers on United Nations mission.
Amaraizu said the suspect before his arrest had claimed to be a police officer.
“But he was not able to buttress his claim with a convincing proof before the police officers who swooped on him.
“He is now regretting his action of presenting himself as a police officer and also helping the operatives in their investigations,” Amaraizu said.
Recovered from him were a teargas canister, handcuffs, and jackknife, among others.
The state commissioner of police Ahmad Abdurrahman has directed full-scale investigations into the incident.
