The Federal Government has disclosed that 10, 000 Constables would be recruited into the Nigerian Police Force annually.

Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Dingyadi, made the disclosure on Wednesday during his visit to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, on Wednesday.

Dingyadi also disclosed that the process of recruiting the first batch of 10,000 Constables was still on and had not been stopped.

According to the Minister, “The recruitment process is on and has not stopped. We intend to recruitment 10,000 constables annually. The first batch of 10,000 is still in the process.

“We will continue to recruit 10,000 next year, by the grace of God. The promotion is ongoing. People who are due to be promoted, I am not aware of any open delay or any glaring delay in promotions.

“We believe the Police Service Commission (PSC) is up to the task to promote officers due for promotion.

“We are all here to receive complaints or any issue on non-promotion. We would take it up and ensure that the needful is done, by the grace of God.”

The Minister also dismissed the face-off between the NPF and PSC, stressing that the situation was being blown out of proportion.

He said: “Maybe people are overblowing it. There is nothing serious about. It is an interim misunderstanding and this we are trying to manage.

“The two organisations are equal to the task and they are managing themselves very well. We believe it would be history. It is nothing new in organisations. There is always this kind of misunderstanding.

“We don’t need to tell anybody what we are doing but the situation is under control, by the grace of God. Things would continue to normalise and nothing has stopped, for your information.

“Everything is going on well. The recruitment, like I said, is on. We have not finished. We are trying to screen and very soon we would tell you where we are.”

A lot of things about the Police don’t appear to be straight, there was a time social media had it that Police Salary has been increased, what was noted was salary adjustment and not increment. There is a big difference between increment and adjustment. The Salary increment according to media was to take effect in either October or November 2018, which never came to light.

The Federal Government at a time was said to have approved #30,000 minimum wage for Nigeria workers, but for about six months now or more now, the matter is still dangling here and there between Labour and the Federal Government.

Police has said they want to recruit a 10,000 constables and before we knew it, the recruitment issue became a problem between the Police and PSC which has degenerated into a feud that has stalled so many things in the Police Force…

How sure are we that all these promises are not scam???

  2. Issue of promotion is getting worst because up till now we have 2011 inspectors yet to be promoted to the nest rank, I didn’t know what the police minister is saying that all things has put in place is he not aware about this dumped inspectors for 9 years with one rank I hope this is types of problem the police minister sappostor to look in to to avoid indiscipline in the force ,this inspectors are the keyboard of the police works and their were dumped for 9 years most of all their junior has been promoted do think their happy? Up course the must be angry, and you know angry lions most of the times can’t obeyed the owner, in view of this I like to call the police authority, psc, minister of police affairs to look into this matter and put it in place thanks
