27 Boko Haram terrorists killed in gunfight


Troops of the Nigerian Army and Cameroon Defence Force fighting to rid the north east part of the country and fringes of Lake Chad, of Boko Haram terrorists, achieved a massive victory when 27 of the terrorists were killed in a heavy gun fight encounter.

At the end of the shootout, a cache of weaponry capable of great destructive proportions including 5 Gun Trucks, 2 Anti-Aircraft Guns and 2 General Purpose Machine Guns among others were recovered from the felled terrorists.

A statement signed by Col Sagir Musa, Acting Director, Army Public Relations giving details of the confrontation said “Troops of Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole, in a joint clearance operations with Cameroon Defence Force, on the 13th of April 2019 had a fierce encounter with Boko Haram terrorists at the Northern part of Wulgo, Tumbuma, Chikun Gudu and Bukar Maryam villages.

“During the operations, 27 terrorists were sent to permanent discomforting sleep. “The following items were recovered: 5 Gun Trucks, Several Motor Cycles, 5 AK 47 Rifles, 1 Automatic Revolver Galil Rifle, 1 G3 Rifle, 2 General Purpose Machine Gun, 2 Anti Aircraft Guns and 4 Rocket Propelled Gun Tubes. Others are 1 PK Machine Gun, 1 M21 Rifle, 1 Locally Made Dane Gun, 5 Rocket Propelled Gun Tubes Bombs, 1000 Assorted rounds of different calibre ammunition, 5 AK 47 Magazines, Several Links of 12.7 MM, 1 Land Cruiser Buffalo, 1 Nissan GT, 1 Land Cruiser destroyed, 1 flag and a Grinding Machine.

Col Musa said there was no casualty on the part of the Nigerian and Cameroonian Forces. “Coordinated military operation is ongoing especially in the fringes of Gombaru – Ngala and surrounding areas to deal with the fleeing bandits running out from Multi National Joint Task Force (Op Yancin Tafki ) onslaught on their hideouts” he added.
