A trailer, loaded with cement yesterday killed one person and injured two others in Owerri, Imo State. The truck with registration no, Anambra XB 882 HAL, and owned by Ibeto Cement Company was heading to Owerri town through Okigwe road when it rammed into the Imo State Environmental Transformation Committee (ENTRACO) building.
It was gathered that property worth millions of naira belonging to ENTRACO were destroyed in the incident.
Speaking with newsmen, the General Manager of ENTRACO, Emeka Osuoji, said he was in his office when he heard a noise.
“I came out of the office to see that IBETO truck had destroyed part of the building”, he said.
At the time of filing this report, efforts were being made to evacuate the truck and rescue those who were trapped.
A witness, Dozie Anosike, said he was behind the truck and that he noticed that the driver made efforts to manoeuvre the vehicle but to no avail. He said it skidded off the road, jumped over a gutter and rammed into the building.
