Armed Hoodlums Rob, Vandalize Vehicles In Lagos



There was pandemonium at Boundary market environs, in Ajegunle area of Lagos State, yesterday, when about 100 armed gangsters attacked people and vandalized many vehicles. The hoodlums whose aim was alleged to be massive robbery were said to have robbed victims at Ojora, Iyalode, Baale, Olowojeunjeje Streets, respectively, and Boundary Road, between 8am and 9am. Sunday Leadership gathered that the hoodlums who were armed with guns, cutlasses, iron rods, woods among other dangerous objects attacked their victims, dispossessing them of their cash, mobile phones and other valuables. The criminals smashed the windscreens of several commercial mini-buses among other vehicles they damaged. An eye witness who identified himself simply as Odafe said, “They wounded no fewer than four people who were cleaning up their drainage  in their houses.

One Donatus Akudinma who was said to be living at Ojora  Street sustained a matchet cut in the head and back.” He said, “Another victim identified as Bolaji Olayiwola was cut in the hand and head while one Dorothy Edobor sustained injury in the hand when she attempted to struggle with one of the robbers over her mobile phone and handbag containing N5,000. Anti Robbery policemen from Ajegunle police station were said to have arrived the scene when the gang was still at Ojora Street, but the hoodlums rather than escape told the police to come or shoot them if they can. Another eyewitness, Ebimene  disclosed that,  ‘When policemen arrived Ojora Street, the hoodlums were shouting on top of their voices that they were not afraid of the police. They were telling the police to go ahead and kill them. They said they wanted to die  and that the policemen should shoot them because they would not listen to them. The policemen fired some shots into the air to disperse hoodlums but to no avail.
