Jigawa: Police Decry Increase Of Rape Cases Against Minors



Jigawa state police command has expressed worries over the increase of reported cases of rape and sodomy against minors in the state.

The state police commissioner, Henry Fadairo stated this while briefing newsmen on some arrest of suspected rapists, including  a ward head.

He stated that from January to July, the command has recorded 32 cases of rape and  25 cases of sodomy and virtually all were against minors.

According to him , the growth of the inhuman behavior against minor across the state  has become alarming adding that the command would  do everything possible to tackle it.

CP Henery who was represented by the spoke person of the command during the briefing SP Abdul Jinjiri noted that, the command has already charged all the reported cases to court.

Fadairo added that  among the suspect they arrested recently, include the village head of Kargo Village Garki local government, Abubakar Ya’u .

According to him, the 60 years-old village head, was accused of raping a 10-year-old girl on her way to school.

“Others  arrested were Mohammed Abdullahi of Abuja Quarters in Gumel local government and one Naziru Mohammed 25, who was accused of raping  a nine year old girl,” he said.

He expressed tha commitment and determination of the command to plush out such bad element in the society, he therefore solicit the support of general public to report any such case to any nearest police station for a timely action.
