An Ibadan High Court yesterday sentenced a former factional chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Oyo state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi (a.k.a Auxiliary) to six years imprisonment for his culpability in the Iwo Road mayhem of 2014 in which several persons were killed, including a final year medical student and student union leader, Adekunle Oladipupo.
Also sentenced were Saheed Kareem, Abu Kareem, Kazeem Kayode and Taiwo Tijani.

Mukaila Lamidi and the other members of the rival transport union who were arrested over the Ibadan mayhem had been charged to court for murder, attempted murder and conspiracy.
Hon. Justice Eni Esan, while delivering judgment in the case, however exonerated the union leaders from charges of murder and attempted murder respectively but found them guilty of conspiracy, and sentenced them to six years imprisonment.
