The Police in Benue state have arrested five people in connection with armed robbery and cultist activities from different locations of the state.
Daily Trust reports that four of them were suspected armed robbers while the fifth person is being held for his involvement in cultism which led to the death of one person.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP. Moses Yamu said that the police trailed the suspected robbers to their hideout in Kastina-Ala local government area of the state after receiving a report that the occupants of a Toyota bus who were heading to Adamawa state from Anambra were robbed at gunpoint.
He said that two locally made pistols, a revolver gun and some of the robbed valuable items were recovered from them.
While the cult suspect, one Melchizedek Kingsley Gabriel, 19, an alleged key member of Red Skin confraternity was arrested in Otukpo based on a tip-off in connection with the killing of one Emmanuel Ogli in December last year, Gabriel who had been evading arrest was picked up during the Sallah holidays, Yamu said.
