Police Parade 23 Robbery Suspects

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has paraded 23 armed robbery suspects, who have been terrorising the FCT and environs, with three pistols, seven cars and 31 live rounds ammunitions.

Speaking at the parade, the FCT Police Commissioner, CP Akali Baba Usman, who said his priority as the Commissioner of Police is to see to the reduction of crime to barest minimum, since it is almost impossible to have a society that is totally free of crime, noted that the success being recorded yesterday is the result of the novel crime fighting strategy he introduced.

He gave a breakdown of the suspects as follows:  “On July 01, 2016 at about 1500hrs acting on a case of armed robbery transferred from Gwarimpa Division, SARS operatives immediately swung into action leading to the arrest of the above named suspects who are linked to the robbery incident.

“Following a search conducted in the house of one of the suspects, Ndubisi Uzor, one Markrov piston with No. B02472, One Krafirtina Magnum 9 mm Beretta pistol with No 107198 and 30 Rounds of live ammunitions were recovered.”

The syndicate, which included Emeka Eze; Ahmed Abubakar, Michael Eze;  operate around Gwarimpa and Wuse axis  and specialise in car snatching, house to house robbery and robbing their victims of cash, jewelleries, handsets and other valuables.

“Also, on June 5, 2016, acting on report that an unknown gunman, later discovered to be Tosin Owolala who placed an order vie phone for two assorted phones Blackberry PRIV and iPhone 6 Plus; robbed the seller of the said phones and other valuables at gun point, police operatives attached to the Command anti Vice-section immediately swung  into action.

“The suspect was arrested in a Blue Honda CRV 2014 Model which was later discovered to have been robbed by the suspect and his gang members on 12 February, 2016 at about 8:00pm close to an ATM point in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“Sequel to his arrest, a thorough searched was conducted on the car, leading to the recovery of a Berretta pistol with one live ammunition. The robbed Blackberry PRIV phone was found  with the suspect.

“Other suspects include Daniel Okhibe, Sunday Otakpa, Friday Iguche, Abubakar Umar, Kennedy Anthony, Umar Danjuma, Salisu Mohammed, Usman Ibrahim, Anyim Victor, Madu Buchi, Patrick Okoro, Anthony Okoye, Patrick Okoro, Jude Okafor and  Emmanuel John; who were caught with various stolen vehicles, phones and other items.”

The FCT police also advised Muslim faithful to guard against carrying bags and baggage to praying grounds as they celebrate today.
