The acting Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has expressed the readiness of the force to crush criminals and cultists in tertiary institutions across the country.
The IGP who stated this through the Nasarawa State Police Commissioner, Shehu Lawal, in Lafia yesterday also donated a Toyota Hilux vehicle to a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Campus Cult Eradication Foundation (CCEF), to enable them carry out their activities.
Lawal, who also used the occasion to officially launch the Campus Cult Eradication Initiative of the acting-Inspector General of Police, said that it is worrisome that students now indulge in cultism which he said leads them to armed robbery, kidnapping, raping, assassination among others.
“It is against this backdrop that the new Inspector General of Police is launching the campus cult eradication initiative to sensitise the students on dangers of cultism and social vices in the society,” Lawal said.
He commended CCEF for its collaboration with the state police command for the successes it had recorded so far.
