A total of nine people lost their lives in the early hours of Friday in Lagos following an auto crash which occurred around Fadeyi Bus Stop Ikorodu road Lagos.
The incident involved two vehicles- a Toyota Hiace commercial bus with registration number KT 715YG and an articulated truck with registration number GGE 715 YG.
It was learnt that the bus coming from the northern part of the country due to over-speeding lost control and rammed into an oncoming truck in the opposite direction before hitting a nearby culvert.
Nine people including five adults (4 male and 1 female) and four children (2 males, 2 females) lost their lives while 10 others who sustained injuries were taken to the emergency Trauma centre at toll gate .
According to Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) General Manager, Mr. Michael Akindele, the incident was caused by over-speeding and careless driving by the bus driver.
He disclosed that the agency received an emergency alert of the accident around 5.45 am, and this prompted immediate activation of the Emergency Response Plan, where all emergency responders including LASEMA Emergency Response Team, Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Police from Onipanu swung into action.
