The Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has pledged his administration’s desire to partner with private security guards to safeguard the lives and property of residents of the council.
Speaking when the management of Kings Guard, a private security outfit paid him a courtesy visit in his office yesterday, the chairman said the protection of life and property of residents was one of the main objectives of his administration. He expressed concern over the nonpayment of some security guards posted to the council by the past administration.

“It is unfortunate that when we assumed office, some viable government property have been carted away by some unidentified persons. And when I enquired, I was told that the security guards posted to the council stopped coming to work due to nonpayment of their salaries by past administration,” he said.
The chairman thanked the management team of Kings Guard for their visit and assured them that he would do his best to see that salaries owed the guards were paid as soon things improved. The Kings Guard regional manager (West), Mr. Kayode Aridegbe, said the management decided to pay a visit to the chairman to congratulate him on his victory in the just concluded chairmanship election in the area.
He appealed to the council chairman to intensify effort to offset the backlog of salaries owed its staff that were posted to the council.  “Sir, it has been difficult for us for over 14 months now as we are unable to pay our staff posted to this council. We will appreciate it if you can come to our aid,” he said.
