The Ogun State Police Command has again challenged students of tertiary institutions in Nigeria to imbibe the spirit of seeking for relevant information to promote security on campuses.
The call was made on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi while making a speech at the security awareness seminar tagged “INFORMATION AND SECURITY: IMPETUS FOR PEACEFUL STUDENTS/CAMPUS ENVIRONMENT”organized for the students of the Federal College of Education Abeokuta by the Students Union Government at the College Hall, Federal College of Education, Osiele Abeokuta.
The Police Spokeman of the command encouraged the students to always seek for knowledge via useful information and use same for promotion of effective security of their lives and immediate environment. He stated further that any complete human being without adequate information about his life and environment is a security threat and he is at risk.
DSP Adejobi admonished the students to always seize opportunities around them and harness available resources within their reach to develop themselves and promote their level of intelligence gathering on happenings around them and in their communities, as such will definitely boost their security consciousness.
Muyiwa Adejobi assured them of police support always and re-assured them of the sustainability of the newly launched Police/Students Forum by the Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Abdulmajid Ali which is geared towards solidifying the sygerny between police and students body in Ogun State.
The College Public Realtions Officer,Mr Bola Adeshina,the Chief Security Officer of the College Mr J.A Adeyemi and other Senior staff of the College,who were also resource persons,graced the occasion. The Police PRO appreciated the Students Union Leaders for their thoughtfulness and proactiveness towards maintaing law and order and effective policing in and around their campus.
